Warrigal CEO Mark Sewell has congratulated a Wollongong IT company for helping combat loneliness and isolation experienced by older people through its innovative and leading edge technology.

He was speaking at the 25th anniversary celebrations of Microsolve, a company formed in 1992 by computing engineer Dale Jenkins, which has grown into a leading specialist IT consulting company, particularly for the aged care sector.

Mr Sewell, who is also the Regional Chair of Aged and Community Care Australia, said the connectivity solutions developed by Microsolve tackled the chronic ageism that was currently an endemic problem for older people.

“Microsolve has allowed Warrigal to be one of the first not-for-profit aged care providers to move to hosted remote data centres and portable online care management systems many years ago.

“I thank Dale and the good people at Microsolve for working with Warrigal over the last 14 years to implement very innovative IT strategies,” he said.

Wollongong Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbury told the gathering that Microsolve was an example of how Wollongong had diversified its economy.

“ITC now plays a major role in the success of our local economy through creativity and innovation,” he said.

“The application of safe work solutions to many diverse challenges has seen Microsolve emerge as an outstanding example of a business model.”

Illawarra First Executive Director Chris Lamont also congratulated Microsolve for their success and its 25th anniversary, which he described as a tremendous milestone.

“Being in 25 years in business is a great achievement for any business let alone a business in the ever-changing information technology industry,” he said. “The team at Microsolve show no signs of slowing down and we wish them every success for the next 25 years.”

Those at the function congratulated founder and owner of Microsolve, Dale Jenkins, for being instrumental in driving the success of Microsolve, which has evolved from a small niche player into a leading outsourcing partner of choice in the Australian small to medium marketplace.

Mr Jenkins recently stood down as CEO to take on a new role with the company, Chief Development Officer, to focus on product development, technical excellence and service quality.
