Scammers using logmein123.com

There have been several accounts on the internet of scammers calling and asking for information from users and trying to remotely gain access to their PC’s.

Read the following story of a potential victim:
“A person “claiming” to be from Microsoft in a strong Indian accent called John on his home phone line advising that his computer had errors and that the anti-virus was corrupt. The person tried getting John to run commands such as “prefetch” and “eventvwr” from the RUN box.  They requested that John count the number of RED and YELLOW errors under the application box in Eventvwr and then asked him to type www.logmein123.com in the RUN box – at this point John found this rather suspicious hung up on the supposed support person.”

Based on the phone call above this suspected scammer was attempting to gain access to John’s computer, luckily John became suspicious and ended the call.

Important: www.logmein123.com is legitimate software for gaining remote access to a user’s computer.
